Big name games; Little impact -Its a long one 1 Year, 2 Months ago Karma: 1
So over the last year or so, I've been buying games that I knew were fun when they first came out 4 or 5 years ago. Some of these games are Turok, AVP (alien vs predator), and Prototype. Now everyone fantasizes themselves being lost in a jungle fighting off a dinosaur horde with a bow and arrow, and a multitude of guns, but did at anytime during this fantasy did you get bored? As hard as it was, the creators of Turok were able to bore me with dinosaur killing. The killing was so repetitve in the technique that it was just annoying when you ran into a dinosaur. I actually sold the game for about 8 bucks because I was so upset with it. (I only bought it for 15). Second, AVP, everyone knows the age old question of - what came first the alien or the predator. In the game it was very unique to the style of gameplay, you could play as the predator (boss), the alien (BA), and the marines (AKA victims). Playing as the alien, it was so nausious (Spelling error) because the game screen was constantly tilting and changing direction that I couldn't play for more than an hour or so. The predator has a large arsenal at its use from the combi stick (javelin thrown for a one hit kill) to the battle disc (throwable disc that cuts down anything in its path and comes back to the thrower like a boomerang), and the plasma shoulder cannon with the three bar targeting system, and let's not forget the helmet vision changing system from heat signatures for humans to acid readings for aliens. Now... let's stop for a moment and discuss why this is actually a bad thing. No matter how experienced you are with shooting games, the game throws so much at you in such a short amount of time that it is nearly impossible to do anything fluently because you'll hesitate and think for a few seconds on which button changes your sight, which button is powerful attack or weak attack or block or focus or target or jump or weapon change or evade etc. It is just too much for one person to take in. Finally, the underdogs. The USMC are the underclassmen in this three way battle. Whenever I play on multiplayer, if I get stuck on the marines, I'll get a little verbal with my teammates because it is so frustrating to have aliens that have a dash attack in which they are nearly immune to bullets and move at a speed of 60mph and dont stop until they hit an enemy, or predators which camp in a corner of the map usually on a tree branch picking people off left and right with that goddamn cannon from over a mile away. To be completely honest, I havent had a game where Ive been the marines and have gotten more than 15 kills in a 10 minute game. (my KD as a human - 0.18, one of the best I've ever seen!) For our final game, Prototype. You are a gov't experiment that has mutant powers but you have amnesia. And NYC has been hit with a biological bomb that mutates people into "monsters". Youre between a four way war between you, the gov't and military, the civilian politicians, and the mutant freaks. To learn more about what happened you use a special ability to retrieve information from people's minds by consuming them (yes, eating them). You're not a cannibal, but if you're low on health are you gonna scavenge for an hour for a health pack while dodging tanks, helicopter strike teams, and military personel roaming the streets of NYC? NOOO, youre going to consume either a civilian or mutant. Gameplay, awesome!!! So some of you might be asking where can I get this game or why is Joe such an idiot and why doesnt he love this game, well...there is only one problem. This problem is so dumb that it just stupifies me why came creators are so dumb (including GOW3 creators for delaying the game, I mean honestly!!!). There is no multiplayer for Prototype.......I know right. That would have been one of the hottest games on the market if they just put in a multiplayer mode. The game only has multiplayer and some side missions. These are just a few games in a sea of potentials. If you have any other games you'd like to bring up for discussion please just leave a reply. Hopefully we'll get a lot of feedback. So thanks, and dont forget to look for new features and forums on the site. GO FTG!!! Rgods out...for now

Very Nice thread Rgods. i Had that one game that i just loved as a kid which was Mario Kart. i could play that game for hours on end on the n64 or the super nes. Now when it comes to the wii Mario Kart that i picked up a few months back they have made that game so hard to play it just takes all the fun outta of it. for instance like hitting the break button and all your kart does is spin outta controll or slide off a cliff, then what is the point of even having breaks? Then theres the boost well on N64 it was a simple push of a button now for the Wii its been months later and i still havent figured out how to use boost. I think mario kart was another foolish game that i ran out to buy just to sit on the shelf and collect dust.
