So, we're sitting in a MW2 lobby ? four of us. We're enjoying our conversation, as we wait for the next game to start. Then, another FTG member gets online, and we back out and invite him. Then, another, and we invite him. Then, they invite two friends each. Before you know it, we have seven to nine players in one lobby ? all wanting to play Hardcore.
Well, obviously, we can't play Hardcore with that many people, and no one wants to play Groundwar. So, we opt to play private matches.
Typical private matches include all weapons Free for All, Snipers only FFA and pistols only FFA. But, that's not good enough.
Soon, everyone in the lobby is yelling out what they want to play ? including "Quick Scope FFA" and "No Scope FFA." One kid even yells out that they want to play "Snipers only on Rust."
For a lobby host or a clan administrator, it's enough to just about make us scream, because ya'll sound like a bunch of whiny little kids choosing a game to play during recess.
First of all, stop talking. It drives me crazy to be in a lobby where a bunch of people are talking all at once. What's even worse is when other people start talking louder, because they can't hear, because everyone's talking all at once. Once everyone has stopped talking, politely suggest a game we all can play and enjoy.
During these times, it's important to remember that you're playing with a large group of players who may not have the same interests as you, and they may not like the same things as you. For example, "quick scoping" is definitely an acquired taste that takes a lot of practice and "no scoping" requires very little skill and is more of a "spray and pray" tactic. And, the idea of playing a sniper-only game on Rust with 10 players is just plain stupid because of the size of the map.
The goal of these impromptu private matches is to play a game we all will enjoy, with weapons we're all familiar with, so that none of us are left out, and we all have an equal opportunity to get a top score. And, another goal could be to practice real-game scenarios so that we can improve our own skills and strategies as a team.
In the future, if we have 10 players, why not try 5v5 team games? Or, if we must play FFA, stick to games we all know, using weapons we all have and know. "Snipers Only," "Pistols Only" or "Knives Only" will help us all improve our skills, and they're weapons we all know, and they're fun games.
If you want to "quick scope" or "no scope" with your Intervention, you go right ahead, but don't suggest we all join you. "No Scoping" with a sniper rifle just doesn't sound like fun to me, and it's not something anyone would do a lot of during actual game play.
With this in mind, let's get out there to the playground and kick some ass.
