Backend Article Create

Detailed instructions on creating articles from the back office. This article assumes you already know how to login to the back end of the site. www.ftgclan.com/administrator

Keep in mind, I am creating these instructions on a Mac. If you use Windows the pictures may look a bit different and possibly be named different but the buttons are in the same location.

?

1. Once logged in to the back office you will select "Article Manager". See image Below..

2. This gives you a view of all the articles on the site (DO NOT OPEN OR EDIT OTHER PEOPLES ARTICLES UNLESS ASKED TO DO SO). We want to create a new article so select the "New Button" upper right of screen, it is green with a plus sign. See image below...

?

Now we should be in the article editor. This editor is known as "WYSIWYG EDITOR" (what you see is what you get).

The next steps can all be seen in the image below so use it as a reference.

3. Give your article a title.

4. Do not fill in the "Alias" the program will do it for you.

5. Select an appropriate "section and category". If one does not exist that fits what your article is about, choose "Uncategorised".

6. Select the "Yes" button to have your article published. You can select no and still save your article to come back and work on it at another time.

7. "Front Page", select NO! The front page is set up to have a certain look and arrangement. If you publish to the front page it will screw it up. This does not mean you can't have an article on the front page. Simply save your article and let me know the title, I will then place in the correct location on the front page.

8. Always use the "Apply" button from time to time while working on your article. The system is set up to log you out if it detects inactivity. This is a security feature. The apply button is kind of like saving your work as you go. If you do not use it and your session ends, everything you typed in will be lost.

9. Finally in the upper right corner select "Save" when you are finished.
