This is keyed as the epic game event of all time. One just has to ask, has this event been launched as a ploy to take some of the sting out Battlefield 3 being launched a week before MW3 in the UK? Activision's publishing CEO Eric Hershberg, has said, "There is obviously a lot of scepticism we are dealing with, and as I’ve said before we have something to prove – but our developers Sledgehammer and Infinity Ward are creating the best game yet." He also stated that much-demanded info from fans including multiplayer and a first look at the feature set of online service Call of Duty Elite will be detailed at XP. An attention-grabbing event should help strengthen the core of the COD fanbase at the very moment it is under most heavy fire.

This is certainly going to be a fan based event unlike any seen before, but is it really for the fans or just a way to steal some thunder from the competition?
